This is an attempt of a "young at heart" 69 year old to cover the state of
Alabama and all 102 of it's civilian airports. Any and all suggestions and
criticism will be welcomed.
First I must thank Manfred Moldenhauser for his programs SCASM and SCLINK
and the French programmers of Airport since I used a lot of their scenery
objects. Last, but not least, R. Schmid for BGLANA V 1.0 with which I was
able to extract the text info for navigation in the the state.
Information for the airports was taken from Airport/Facilities Directory and
U.S. Terminal Procedures. The airports will have fuel, beacons, etc if
given in the above manuals. Taxiways and parking is provided along with
ILS, where given, Land Me at all fields, & ATIS. The runway order in the ATIS
section is listed by wind direction to be usable with Weather Wizard. There
are scenery objects at all fields but at a lot you must watch for trees on
your landing approaches and a few power lines.
You will need to copy the three OAV texture files into your texture directory
and I have included the file BAMA00.BGL which if put into your scenery file
will stop FS51-CD from loading Montgomery and Huntsville with it weird green
polygon and just runways when in the NAmerica menu. It will instead load my
scenery files.
This scenery file will look it's best with FS51-CD or FS51 Disk because of
the change of the texture files by MicroSoft. If using FS50.a when you are
in the Mobile bay area you will think you are on islands because in FS50.a
there was no Mobile Bay at all, only a lot of water.
Have fun and hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it.
